Position Description

As a member of a patient care team, you will deliver support services to the patient, their family, and other members of the patient care team. Utilizing your proficient communication abilities, you will attend to the concerns and requests of patients and their families. Shift: Saturday, Sunday & Stat Holidays 9:00 am-5:00 pm Bed Team

Here’s What You’ll Get To Do

  • Ensures the provision of a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients and their families by upholding the patient rooms and treatment areas in accordance with established environmental service specifications, as detailed below:
  • Preparing and organizing patient rooms and treatment areas, including making beds and providing linens.
  • Assess patient and family priorities and concerns, and modify service provisions accordingly.
  • Sanitizing areas that do not involve patient care.
  • Ensure that unit-based clinical equipment utilized for patient care is properly cleansed, fully operational, and readily accessible for use. Please report any concerns regarding equipment or any issues that necessitate repair to the Supervisor.
  • Conducting an inventory assessment of patient care supplies and determining the necessary items that require reordering.
  • It is essential to maintain an adequate inventory of supplies in patient care areas and to confirm any necessary orders that may be required for the provision of patient care.
  • Facilitate the fulfillment of patient nutritional requirements by overseeing the distribution and collection of patient meal trays.
  • Convey alterations in work priorities to colleagues in order to guarantee the efficient functioning of operations and the fulfillment of service requirements.
  • Provide assistance with transportation responsibilities as necessary, particularly in instances where transport services are unavailable. This includes the conveyance of patients and addressing other patient care requirements, such as the delivery of specimens to the laboratory.
  • The PSA is accountable for ensuring Infection Prevention & Controls standards (PIDAC), department/hospital policies, and procedures are being adhered to.
  • Engaged in the quality assurance program and inspections conducted by Supervisors and Clinical personnel.
  • Discretion is exercised to prioritize clinical requirements and requests in response to the activities of patients, units, and clinics.
