Job Summary:

In your capacity as an Ambulatory Data/Booking Clerk at VCH, you will:

  • Execute clerical and reception functions, data entry and extraction, and scheduling/booking for the region.
  • Arrange/book a diverse array of client/patient appointments, follow-up visits, testing, and referrals to other physicians and/or hospitals.
  • Accurately prepare and verify patient/client information.
  • Input data into numerous databases, including Renal Soft, PCIS, FoxPro, and PROMIS.
  • Revise client/patient attendance statistics and other pertinent data.
  • Execute data reconciliation as necessary.
  • Generate statistical reports upon the Manager’s or another team member’s request.
  • Provide administrative services, including the encoding of a diverse array of technical and non-technical materials, using word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • Respond to routine messages and answer the phone, or direct respondents to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain the filing systems, equipment, and supplies of the department.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12 and two (2) years of recent, relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Keyboarding proficiency at a rate of 45 words per minute.
  • Capacity to operate apparatus that is pertinent.
  • Demonstrated capacity to interact effectively with others.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology.
  • Capacity to communicate effectively in both written and spoken form.
  • Capacity to organize activities.
  • The capacity to perform the responsibilities of the position on a physical level.

Closing Statement:

The work area and hours of work, including days off, may be subject to modification in accordance with operational requirements, the Collective Agreement, and relevant statutes. Successful candidates may be required to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.

In accordance with Ministry of Health policy, all healthcare professionals employed in publicly-funded healthcare facilities are obligated to disclose their prior vaccination history or history of specific infections. The collection of these records will enable the provision of any absent vaccines and the implementation of appropriate measures in the event of future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.

This information will be requested as part of the onboarding procedure for all new recruits and consultations at Vancouver Coastal Health.
