Position Summary:

The Patient Admitting Clerk is responsible for accurately collecting information during the registration process while adhering to provincial client registry best practices. This role ensures exceptional customer service and professionalism, facilitating effective and efficient communication within the facility.

Key responsibilities include maintaining secure health records, ensuring correct identification and filing of patient reports, and upholding health record deficiency systems per regional standards. The role supports timely access to health information and maintains an up-to-date chart location system. Additionally, confidentiality must be maintained in all matters related to clients, staff, and the organization.

The Patient Admitting Clerk operates in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Office Assistant / Medical Secretary Certification
  • Completion of a certified Medical Terminology Course
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Proficiency with basic computer skills
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must complete and maintain a satisfactory pre-employment security check
  • Satisfactory employment record
