Lander Treatment Centre, a Recovery Alberta short-term intensive, residential addiction treatment facility, is situated in Claresholm, approximately one and a half hours south of Calgary. The facility provides assistance to individuals who are enduring issues as a result of their alcohol, drug, or gambling use. The program and facility offer individuals the chance to reflect, implement positive changes, and commence the process of rebuilding their lives.

We are in search of a casual Client Care Assistant (CCA) who will provide support and care for clients under the supervision of a nurse. In addition to the Job Description provided below, additional responsibilities may include assisting with the delivery of fundamental programs, answering phones, photocopying, performing some general maintenance tasks, and providing written and verbal reports.

You will be expected to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. In addition to having the capacity to adapt to the diverse challenges and unforeseen circumstances that arise in a residential setting, the successful incumbent will also be expected to exhibit proficiency in the following areas: effective decision-making, positive team interactions, strong listening and communication skills, and the ability to observe and address client behaviors.

The position requires a consistent commitment to working a diverse range of shifts, including 12-hour shifts, as well as days, evenings, nights, and weekends. The position is located in Claresholm, AB, and potential applicants from the southern zone are encouraged to submit their applications. Effective September 1, 2024, this position has been transferred to Recovery Alberta. Description:

Work as a team member with all personnel to provide supportive care to clients with addictions in your capacity as a Client Care Assistant. Your primary responsibilities include the following: assuring the safety and security of the facility, responding to client requests, communicating effectively with other staff, and contributing to a therapeutic environment through interaction with clients. This includes providing supportive care to clients.

As a member of an interprofessional team, you will assist in the provision of residential services to individuals with addiction, thereby enhancing their quality of life, health, autonomy, and respect. You will assist clients in engaging in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities. Additionally, you will collaborate with other health and service providers to ensure the preservation of a supportive and secure environment.

Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of Grade 12. Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Carrying goods of varying sizes and weights necessitates frequent standing, walking, raising, pushing/pulling, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

Work experience with clients who are struggling with addiction and mental health issues. Crisis intervention training that is nonviolent. Training in suicide prevention.
