Who Are We Looking For?

The 100 Mile District General Hospital is currently seeking casual employees to fill the positions of Environmental Services Worker and Food Service Worker. We are seeking team members who are available to work rotating day shifts, including weekends and holidays when necessary, and who have a flexible schedule.

The Casual shifts of this position include all of the following hours:
06:03 to 14:13, 07:00 to 15:10, 10:30 to 18:40, 10:38 to 18:48, 08:00 to 13:00, 13:00 to 18:00

This is a casual position. Casual work does not provide guaranteed hours and can vary from 0 to 37.5 hours per week on an as-needed basis.

What Will You Work On?

Food service workers are responsible for a diverse array of responsibilities within a food service operation, including:

  • Serving and portioning dishes and beverages in a cafeteria or dining room.
  • Counts, balances, and/or measures the ingredients in the designated culinary preparation area.
  • Washing and peeling fruits and vegetables.

– Assembles beverages and food items – tea, coffee, sandwiches, salads, bag lunches, items for Meals on Wheels.

  • Dishes and utensils are washed.
  • Establishing and distributing supper wagons.
  • Cleaning of culinary service areas.
  • Administrative responsibilities, including the preparation of menu cards, the responding of telephones, and the filing of documents.
  • Fulfills additional responsibilities as directed.

Environmental Services Workers are responsible for a diverse array of responsibilities in a maintenance operation, including:

  • Ensuring that patient rooms, washrooms, corridors, hallways, and common areas are kept spotless and sanitary.
  • Sweeping, vacuuming, dust cleansing, spot washing, and damp washing are employed to clean a variety of surfaces, such as floors, stairways, walls, windows, and ceilings.
  • Disinfects and cleans restrooms.
  • Strips and reassembles mattresses.
  • Retrieves linens and laundry that are contaminated.
  • Cleans the nursing area and isolation chambers, which includes the cleaning of furniture.
  • Vacuums, shampoos, and brushes carpets, and upholstered furniture.
  • Fulfills additional responsibilities as directed.
