Main Purpose and Function:
The Office Support Clerk I – Mailroom Clerk is responsible for the collection, inspection, sorting, and delivery of mail at Vancouver City Hall. Additionally, this role is responsible for the preparation of correspondence for departing deliveries, which is coordinated with both internal and external stakeholders.
Specific Duties/Responsibilities:
- Retrieves mail from a designated location.
- Stamps all correspondence with a date stamp.
- Sorts mail for Revenue Services.
- Delivers mail to Revenue Services, including alarm permits, by-law fines, utilities, property tax, and license material.
- Sorts newspapers into postal channels.
- Operates a Pitney Bowes envelope inserter for Residential Parking Permits.
- Sorts Canada Post mail deliveries into designated mail spaces.
- Ensures that all registered mail is signed for upon delivery by recording it in the registration book.
- Guarantees that registered mail is delivered within the hall on the same day, and if it is intended for an external department, it is delivered the following day.
- Delivers/sorts all correspondence to the Training Centre and Information Technology (underground).
